Fans in Paris, France, will be cheering on one of the country's biggest names when UFC stages a huge lightweight showdown at the AccorArena.
Fans react as UFC announces return to Paris for September Fight Night card
Paris is set to host its third consecutive UFC Fight Night event on September 28th, and from the moment the event was confirmed, fans have been speculating which bouts will headline the card.
Former interim heavyweight champion Ciril Gane has competed in the main events of the past two UFC in Paris events, and after the initial Ag. Fight Report, MMA Junkie has confirmed that top lightweight fighters Benoit Saint-Denis and Renato Moicano have signed on for a five-round bout.
Currently the No. 12-ranked UFC lightweight contender, France's Saint-Denis is fresh off a knockout loss to Dustin Poirier, but since making his UFC debut at welterweight on short notice in 2021, he's won five straight bouts and has risen to the top 15 in the lightweight division.
Moicano, a former featherweight, has been with UFC for nearly 10 years and is currently ranked 10th in the UFC lightweight rankings on the back of an impressive three-fight winning streak.
The fact that both fighters have signed on for a five-round bout strongly suggests they could headline UFC Paris, but considering UFC has also started booking more five-round co-main events, it's possible the promotion has something bigger planned for a card that currently only has three bouts scheduled.
