LeBron James is doubtful for Tuesday's road game against the Milwaukee Bucks because of soreness in his left ankle, the Los Angeles Lakers announced Monday.
James has been dealing with ankle issues for months. The last game he missed because of it happened to be the Lakers' win over Milwaukee on March 8th.
LA started Spencer Dinwiddie in place of James against Milwaukee.
The 21-year veteran played 38 minutes in LA's 150-145 win over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday, contributing 26 points and 10 assists.
The Bucks game begins a six-game road trip for the Lakers, who sit ninth in the Western Conference with 11 games remaining.
Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell, who missed the game against Indiana due to a non-COVID-19 illness, is not on the injury report for the game against Milwaukee.
“We know where we are right now,” James said after the Pacers game. “Keep trying to play good basketball. This is a very testing road trip for us. This is very rare. Never in my career have I taken such a slow East Coast road trip. I don't remember where we went or vice versa, which was tough because we ended up being in the East and going West at the end of the season.
“But we're looking forward to it.”
LA currently sits three games behind the Phoenix Suns for sixth place in the conference and needs to secure that spot to avoid the play-in tournament. The Lakers are 2.5 games behind the 10th-seeded Golden State Warriors.
