Sports podcasters are finally getting the respect they deserve in NBA circles. After years of spit-covering microphones and filling up time in July with MJ vs. LeBron talk, it's our turn. The stigma that sports podcasters are ball-ignorant, non-athletic weirdos in their mom's basement is gone. For the first time in a decade, they're finally seeing the light of day, like when sports bloggers started selling their sites in the late 2010s. The next iteration is when podcasters and JJ Redick sign a four-year contract to coach the NBA's most popular team.
JJ Redick has agreed to a four-year contract to become the next coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN sources. Rob Pelinka was offered the job this morning, and Redick has begun working to assemble an experienced staff. pic.twitter.com/G66eVFRALp

Hiring a podcaster can't be any worse than hiring Doc Rivers, right?
Always remember this –
Life isn't about what you know, it's about who you know, and JJ Redick knows LeBron James, which is a pretty big deal.
Can JJ handle the pressures of the sports podcast world? If he succeeds, we all succeed. Bill Simmons and Ryan Russillo could be next in front office roles. After that, maybe Zach Lowe? No dunks Get your footing in the door. Right now, the next great NBA coach is getting off the school bus to film a new episode of a basketball podcast for 17 subscribers. It's not a mindset, it's a hard work. The Carolina Hurricanes just hired a former Flyers blogger as their GM. Maybe one day you or I could coach the Sixers. Keep that head sharp, Darryl.
And if he does get fired, he'll be right back on the podcast and getting more content from there. He'll be right back on First Take And then we start cooking again with Steven A. and Mad Dog.

JJ can't lose. We can't lose either!
