The Priceville Lady Bulldogs and Danville Lady Hawks have punched their ticket to next week's AHSAA state playoffs. Priceville secured second place in the area with a win over St. John Paul II, and Danville clinched the area with a win over Susan Moore.
Danville 3, Susan Moore 2
The Lady Hawks defeated Susan Moore, 3-2, to advance to the state playoffs for the fourth straight year. Danville had a goal each from Layla Sherrill, Josie Bailey and Briley Terry. Wendy Reyes had 12 saves in goal.
Sherrill's goal was her 71st of the season, which puts her seventh all-time in single-season goals in AHSAA history.
Danville 7, Geraldine 3
Sherrill scored a season-high seven goals to lead the Lady Hawks to a 7-3 victory over Geraldine. Terry had two assists, and Bailey, Aleya Brooks and Mia Brannon each had an assist. Reyes made 11 saves in goal.
Danville 8, Pennington 0
Sherrill had four goals and two assists, helping Danville to an 8-0 win over Pennington in the area. Terry Brannon each added a goal and an assist, and Bailey and Maddie Sherrill each had a goal. Gracie Best, Schochilt Beltran and Brooks each added an assist. Reyes made nine saves in goal.
Priceville 2, St. John Paul II 1
The Lady Bulldogs defeated St. John Paul II 2-1, needing two overtimes and a second round to seal a playoff berth. They won 5-4 in the penalty shootout.
Anna Katherine Hopkins scored Priceville's only goal in regulation. Mae Vick, Kenzie Bowling, Aubrey Owens, Madeline Kennedy and Amidi Wilder scored on penalties. Goaltender Tori Staats had 16 saves in regulation, an overtime save and two penalty kick saves.
Priceville 2, Madison Co. 1
Hopkins scored two goals to lead Priceville to a 2-1 victory over Madison Company in the area. Staats, the goaltender, had an assist and 15 saves.
