Ruston, Louisiana (KTVE/KARD) — Fans prepare to see the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs for the first time as the annual spring football game is scheduled to kick off this weekend at the Bulldog Blitz hosted by Jim Taylor Ford in Ruston this week. is starting. The Bulldogs feel they have all the ingredients to create something special in the new season, and this Saturday will be their chance to show if they are on the right track to improving as a ball club. .
The defense was a big concern last year, but with the grand finale of spring football approaching, Louisiana Tech sophomore defensive back Michael Richards believes they need to play cohesively as a unit to be successful this fall. He explained that this is the key.
“Honestly, the only way we can take the next step is by just playing together. That's it. We had a lot of situations last year where we disagreed with each other, and we can't play like that. Next to each other. You can't play defense if you're not willing to trust the players you have,” Richard said.
On a more exciting front, it's worth noting that the offense is replacing several key playmakers who have left the team, but Louisiana Tech offensive coordinator Scott Parr is looking for room to finish out the spring. I'm confident in the pieces I have.
There is so much potential, so much leadership, so much to do. We have a long way to go, but we have all the ingredients we need to get there. And we feel like we have kids that have the mentality to earn it and where we need to be when that time comes,” Parr said.
The match is scheduled to kick off this Saturday at 11am at Joe Aylett Stadium.
