Kylian Mbappé has made clear his desire to play at the Summer Olympics, but a potential move to Real Madrid could cause problems.
The forward could feature for Thierry Henry's France squad in this summer's tournament in his home country and could be the biggest player to take part in the tournament.
Mbappe has had a rift in his relationship with PSG during his seven-year spell at the club, but he remains loyal to his country and aims to help PSG win glory at this summer's European Championship in Germany. Dew.
He scored a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup final, becoming only the second player in history to score a hat-trick in a tournament final. He is France's star man, and if he plays, he will instantly make France the favorites to win the tournament. It will push it up.
Despite the potential problems, the 25-year-old has made it clear he is keen to play.
“I always wanted to play in the Olympics and that desire has not changed,” Mbappe said. “It would be a dream if I could qualify for the Olympics, but if I can't, I'll do what I'm told.
“The decision was still up to one person and they couldn't tell me yes or no.”
It is unclear who Mbappé is referring to, but there are reports that Real Madrid will not release the French player for this summer's Olympics.
Mbappé may need to seek special permission from the club as he is certain to leave PSG on a free transfer to join the Spanish side in the summer.
The gold medal match at the Paris Olympics will be held on August 9th, the Super Cup will be held on August 14th and the first weekend of La Liga begins on August 17th.
Rules state that all men's Olympic representatives must be under 23 or born on or after January 1, 2001, but up to three older athletes are allowed.
Henry, who is currently the France Under-21 manager, would like to hire Mbappé, but despite both men's wishes, it is highly unlikely that this will be possible.
He said, “That's one of the problems when players are good.” They're in a situation where they have to go to the Euros and if they're going to get into the Champions League they have to play it and if they're going to go higher in the Euros it's obviously going to take time.
“I haven't talked to him directly about the Olympic situation yet. You know, I've been calling the players. Of course, I'll keep it to myself.
“But Kylian appeared on TV the other day and said himself that he wants to play against them. I don't think anyone here would want Kylian Mbappé in their team, that's really crazy.
“But he also said it's up to the team, and I know that.” The Olympics are not on FIFA's calendar, so teams can say no. ”
