Kansas safety Akili Hubbard practices in Lawrence on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
University of Kansas safety Akili Hubbard has entered the transfer portal. He shared a post from X by Rivals that broke the news on Thursday afternoon.
Hubbard, a redshirt junior safety from Bellflower, Calif., did not play for KU during his only season with the Jayhawks. He signed with KU as a notable JUCO transfer last February after recording 18 tackles and four interceptions at Golden West University in 2022.
Safety was one of the Jayhawks' deepest positions during spring practice, with returning players Marvin Grant and OJ Burroughs expected to maintain key roles, with Jalen and Devin Dye carving out roles. Further down the depth chart were young players.
KU's coaching staff now has one more scholarship available as it pursues various options in the spring portal window.
