On Saturday, a Misfits Boxing event in Tennessee was disrupted due to a swatting incident, prompting YouTuber, fighter and promoter KSI to issue an online warning.
When the fight card resumed in Spring Hill, Tenn., a town 60 miles south of Nashville, KSI wrote to X, “The event has resumed and Swatter will be charged and arrested.”
Swatting – a prank in which emergency services are called and unknowingly dispatched to non-emergency targets – is already a big problem in Tennessee. In one incident in 2020, a Tennessee man died of a heart attack when police rushed to his home. Since then, the state has enacted new laws aimed at curbing the dangerous practice.
Misfits Boxing 13 was disbanded during the second round of the Lil Kura Kura vs. Yudi Gang match, and the Worldwide Stages arena was cleared by police.
Spring Hill police did not return calls from DailyMail.com for more information.
DAZN's Misfits Boxing 13 broadcast interrupted due to apparent bashing prank
Fighter and promoter KSI issues online warning to prank caller
Although footage of police storming the arena has not been released, KSI revealed the prank he used to bash X.
“I've never seen an event that I'm watching live get slammed,” London-born KSI wrote. “America is different.”
KSI, who launched Misfits Boxing with Wasserman Boxing in 2021, claims the tataki helped promote the fight card.
“Whoever made the bomb threat did a good job,” he wrote. “This makes him one of Misfits 13's most talked about events.”
KSI threatened to sue the pranksters: “Even though the event has resumed, the pranksters will be prosecuted…”
The event resumed about an hour later.
“We apologize for the short delay,” Misfits commentator Todd Grisham said on social media. “Basically what happened was that local law enforcement officials, out of an abundance of caution, asked everyone to leave the arena for a thorough safety inspection.
“They did that and got all the permissions, so we're going to go on with the show.”
The match between Lil Kura Kura and Yudi Gang was ruled a no-contest, but the next three matches were held as scheduled.
