Celebrated director Jim Townes' latest film, Killer X, has been filling theaters since its release in February 2024. With over 1,000 tickets sold and three sold-out screenings, Jose Luis Torres II and the rest of the cast have been generating buzz and making waves in the indie film world.
The fourth screening of Killer Ex, taking place at RC Reading Movies 11 and IMAX on June 14, will be spiced up with a VIP event featuring some of the film's most memorable actors.
Join Jose Luis Torres II (Victor), Bill Pugh (Steven), Chase Mullarkey (Nico) and Connor Mullarkey (Sage) for an intimate filming experience at 7pm. All attendees will receive a commemorative movie ticket, poster and wristband, as well as photo opportunities with cast members.
Following the screening, Jose Torres and Bill Pugh will host a film combat seminar, “Battle for the Screen,” at Open Call Martial Arts in Reading, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, June 15. More information and tickets are available for purchase at eventbrite.com by searching “Killer Ex.”
Additionally, the cast of Killer Ex will be taking the show overseas later this year. With premieres scheduled in the Caribbean and Europe, Killer Ex is rapidly climbing the charts. In this must-see martial arts film, Torres has become known among moviegoers as “The Latin Dragon.” Killer Ex hits theaters in Trinidad and Tobago on Friday, August 9th and in Rotterdam, Netherlands on November 8th.
New Jersey-based international martial arts grandmaster Jose Luis Torres II makes his film acting debut as Victor, an altruistic, intelligent and powerful former assassin who is now a family man. When his ex-husband arrives with an army of assassins, Victor is forced to return to his old life. Torn between his love for his family and his desire to protect his ex-husband, Victor Reyes must maintain his integrity and reputation while also taking great care to prevent the woman he once loved from being killed.
Packed with thrilling fight scenes, laugh-out-loud moments and relatable characters, Killer Ex is sure to leave its mark in martial arts movie history as demand for further releases grows.
Filmed in Southern New Jersey, Killer Ex stars many local actors, martial arts movie stars like Mohamed (Michel) Kissi and William Christopher Ford, and actress Elena Turinova as Killer Ex herself. Turinova brings grace and charm to the screen with her quick wit and unapologetic attitude, making for a refreshing tribute to the family-oriented Reyes.
Torres is a 9th degree black belt in Tang Su Do and decorated martial artist from Edgewater Park, New Jersey. His martial arts career began under Master William Hamilton in 1982. Now, more than 40 years later, Torres has enjoyed great success, opening the Team Torres Martial Arts franchise, running after-school programs for youth, and producing martial arts events both nationally and internationally.
The role of Victor Reyes, a martial arts master, father of three, and college football coach, was apparently written with Torres in mind.
“It's an incredible opportunity to be cast in the lead role in this film.” “Director Jim Towns is an outstanding director and writer,” Torres said. “I'm excited to bring the character of Victor Reyes to life. The entire cast of this film is truly top notch. William Christopher Ford and Mohamed Kissi are both incredible actors who have starred in iconic martial arts films. It's an honor to work with them. It's a dream come true.”
