The NBA Summer League in Las Vegas has concluded, with the Miami Heat winning the championship.
The Heat's summer league team went a perfect 6-0 over the past few weeks, defeating the Golden State Warriors in the semifinals and the Memphis Grizzlies 120-118 in the championship game on Monday.
The final game of the summer league provided fans with plenty of action and was tight until the very end, with Grizzlies guard GG Jackson hitting a tying shot in the final seconds of the game to send the game into overtime.
In overtime, both teams scored points, with Pelle Larsson scoring to give Miami the win.
Scottie Pippen Jr. continues to perform well in Summer League
Scottie Pippen, an undrafted 2022 recruit out of Vanderbilt, had 29 points, 11 assists and five rebounds. The son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen is still trying to find a permanent spot in the NBA, and his performance in summer league certainly put him in good stead.
Pippen signed a two-year, two-way contract with Memphis in January, and if his summer league performance translates into the regular season, he could end up spending more time in the NBA than in the G League.
After another strong performance, fans continued to praise his high level of play during the Summer League.
Kelel Ware is expected to win Rookie of the Year after Summer League
Heat first-round draft pick Kel'el Ware may have been the most impressive rookie of the summer league.
He was excellent on both ends of the court, easily scoring double figures and blocking shot after shot on the defensive end. Ware finished the summer league with a strong performance, finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds on 8-of-10 field goal attempts.
Ware, a former Indiana star, went to Miami with the 15th pick via the lottery and could very well be a bargain in the draft considering how far he fell.
Josh Christopher proves his worth in Summer League finale
Josh Christopher has struggled to make much of an impact in the NBA since being selected in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft, but he has shown great promise in Summer League.
He recorded consecutive 20-point scores in the semifinals and finals, then recorded 24 points, four rebounds, three steals and two blocks in the final game of the summer league.
Following his solid performance in the summer league, fans called for the Heat to keep Christopher on the team come the regular season.
Christopher will use the remainder of the summer to try and secure a spot.
