The New Zealand-based French fighter is set to return home in September looking to go 3-0 at UFC.
Kevin Jousset (10-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will compete in a welterweight bout against “The Ultimate Fighter” winner Bryan Buttle (10-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) on the September 28 UFC card at the Accor Arena in Paris.
Multiple people with knowledge of the booking confirmed the bout to MMA Junkie but requested anonymity because the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
José was born in France but trains with the Elite City Kickboxing team in New Zealand, which includes UFC stars such as former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, Kai Kara “France” and Dan Hooker. He signed with UFC in 2023 and has won two consecutive bouts over Kieffer Crosby and Son Kenan. He was scheduled to fight Drew Gooden in May, but Gooden withdrew. José will be looking to make it six straight wins.
Buttle last won the welterweight season of The Ultimate Fighter nearly three years ago, choking out Gilbert Urbina. His UFC career has been up and down so far, with four of his five wins coming by finish, including a 14-second knockout that was ineligible for a bonus due to being underweight. Buttle also had a no contest in March after Ange Rosa was unable to continue due to an eye injury.
With this addition, the UFC Paris lineup now reads as follows:
- Renato Moicano vs. Benoit Saint-Denis
- Brendan Allen vs. Nassoordin Imavov
- JoAnderson Brito vs. William Gomis
- Nora Cornol vs. Germaine de Randamie
- Ailin Perez vs. Daria Zheleznyakova
- Matt Frevola vs. Fares Ziam
- Victor Altamirano vs. Daniel Valles
- Da Woong Jung vs. Umar Sy
- Brian Buttle vs. Kevin Jousset
