Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant is one of the greatest scorers of his generation, but he hasn't played like that in recent games.
Against the Milwaukee Bucks, who were without two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, Durant was limited to just 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting as the Suns lost 140-129. He had two games in a row with fewer than 15 points and three games in which he shot less than 50 percent from the field.
Durant's off nights always raise eyebrows, but it was his effort and body language that were really concerning. The 35-year-old entered the game averaging 19.5 field goal attempts per game. On Sunday, he frequently disappeared on offense, showing a lack of aggression and hurting Phoenix's chances as the team was unable to hold a lead beyond the first quarter.
Bradley Beal had his best game as a member of the Suns, leading the team with 28 points on 11-of-15 shooting. Grayson Allen added 25 points on six 3-pointers, and Devin Booker had 23 points.
Unfortunately, Durant was unable to play as Damian Lillard and Bobby Portis led the Bucks with 31 points each. Lillard tied a career high with 16 assists.
Fans on social media didn't miss Durant's lackluster performance Sunday.
The Suns fell to 39-29 with Sunday's loss. Phoenix is struggling to qualify for the play-in tournament, and time is running out for the team to move up in the standings.
The Suns are certainly counting on Durant to return to MVP-level play as the postseason approaches.
Phoenix will play at home against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday (37-30).
