Katrina Young is a three-time national champion and is training for her third Olympic team. This veteran athlete is bringing new balance to his life and new energy to his training. Young graduated from Florida State University with a degree in music. She competed in both the Rio and Tokyo Olympics. Young speaks of her feeling that her unfinished business at the Olympics is unfinished. “I don't think I've ever overcome the pressure and gotten into the zone at the Olympics. I'm one of them, but I really hope that happens.”To face fear and overcome pressure to get into the zone You can push yourself,” Young says. Young is changing her focus with a lifestyle change this Olympic cycle. She is a newlywed. And she's a new resident of California. Young is training at the USC pool in Southern California. Training to dive after college isn't always easy, she says. “Once she graduates college as a professional diver, she has to forge her own path and hope that someone is willing to help,” Young says. Her Young's move to Los Angeles has also ignited a second passion. When she's not training at USC or coaching young athletes, she performs at small venues nearby. However, her singing is still second only to diving. One thing that hasn't changed for her is Young's love of perfect diving. “Yeah, it's like euphoria. There's just no other feeling. And that's part of the reason I stayed in this sport, too, because I love that feeling. Jumping into the water. You just feel yourself dripping. It's like that.'' You hear the sound of paper tearing and you go straight through the water. ” Young will compete in both the solo and synchronized diving events at the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials in Knoxville, Tennessee, June 17-23.
