2024 U.S. Olympic Selection
Day 7 Qualifying Heat Sheet
With only three events on the schedule, the morning session is expected to be short and, with a large number of withdrawals, is likely to finish even earlier than initially expected.
Withdrawing from two events today and ending the tournament early Bella SimsSims, who will compete in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, had a tough tournament, failing to get past the first round in any event. She also said she didn't want to end the tournament early. Leah SmithSmith, a two-time Olympic medalist, was seeded fifth in the 800m freestyle but, like Sims, has struggled to find her form. Katie Grimes Grimes also decided to withdraw from the 800m freestyle, having qualified for Tokyo in that event, but instead opted to compete in tonight's 200m backstroke final, where she is seeded fourth.
In the 100m butterfly, no top seeded athletes participated, but some famous athletes Aaron ShackelAlready selected for the team Luca UrlandHe placed second in the 200m butterfly but withdrew.
In the 200-meter individual medley, in addition to Sims, Phoebe Bacon elected to sit out the race, which is not a surprising move as Bacon, the 2021 Olympic 200m backstroke representative, is seeded second in tonight's 200m backstroke final and will be looking to repeat the feat.
