TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama football will hold its final scrimmage of the spring on Saturday, and fans will be in attendance to see many of the Crimson Tide's new additions for the 2024 season.
One player fans won't get to see is Washington transfer center Parker Brailsford. During Thursday's press conference, head coach Karen DeBoer provided an update on the status of Brailsford, who has been away from the team all spring.
“Right now, there are no plans for him to [there]“We just had limited practice throughout the spring,” DeBoer said. “He didn't practice today, so I'm not going to put him in that position. We are doing everything we can to make sure that
Brailsford was considered one of the best players in the winter transfer portal window coming from Washington after serving as the starting center on the Huskies' Joe Moore Award-winning offensive line last season.
Alabama has an unresolved center field battle after last year's starter Seth McLaughlin transferred to Ohio State. In Brailsford's absence, James Brockermeyer has been working with the starters on the offensive line this spring.
Earlier this spring, DeBoer acknowledged that Brailsford's absence was a personal matter and not related to a desire to leave the team.
“Parker is going through something unrelated to football, but he's going to be with us,” DeBoer said last week. “He's been training with our strength staff and doing a great job there. He hasn't done anything wrong. There's nothing like that. He's working hard. . He will be ready to go sooner or later. It's not about a transfer or anything like that.”
