The bout, taking place at the Footprint Center in Phoenix on June 29, will pit the slick technique and experience of Juan Francisco Estrada against the youthful energy and intelligent aggression of Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez. The 12-round bout and undercard bouts will be broadcast on DAZN.
Estrada (44-3, 28 KOs), is defending his WBC and Ring Magazine super flyweight titles. The 34-year-old boxer-puncher from Sonora, Mexico has been widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world for nearly a decade and has demonstrated his skill at the highest level.
“Everybody's saying I'm going to retire soon,” Estrada lamented in a recent interview with Boxing Scene magazine, “but considering my age, I think I've got about four more years of my career left. So, the truth is, I think a lot of people are wrong, and I intend to prove them.”
“I know Bam will be giving it his all. He's hungry and wants to be a world champion in this weight class. I want to continue making history, too.”

The 24-year-old Bam (19-0, 12 KOs) became the youngest world champion in boxing history when he defeated the previously unbeaten Sonny Edwards to unify the flyweight titles. The San Antonio, Texas native is already a two-division world champion and is looking to reclaim his old WBC 115-pound title by defeating the most decorated and established fighter he has ever faced.
“I think it's going to shock a lot of people,” Bam told Sporting News in a recent interview. “A lot of people haven't seen the best of Bam Rodriguez, and I think a game like this is going to show that to the world.”
“At this point in my career, I want to fight the best fights. I'm still young and I'm full of energy. I just want to fight the best opponents and put on a great show for the fans.”
Sporting News will bring you live undercard and round-by-round coverage of what could be a Fight of the Year contender.
