Though it only lasted 15 seconds, Jon Jones has a lot to say about the Tom Aspinall vs. Curtis Blaydes I fight.
Conor McGregor withdraws from UFC 303, Dana White announces three replacement fights
The year 2024 will see the first interim title defense in more than a decade as Britain's Aspinall defends his newly won title in a highly anticipated rematch against Blaydes at UFC 304. The event will take place in Manchester, England on July 27, with the previous bout taking place in London in 2022.
The bout in question was short, ending after just 15 seconds when Aspinall injured his knee after landing a kick, soon collapsing to the canvas and grimacing in pain, his first and only loss in the UFC Octagon.
There's not much to take from 15 seconds of Blades v Aspinall match 1, but 'Bones' Jones disagrees, offering his own views in his latest analysis of 'X'.
“I saw him and Curtis fight today, honestly the first time I've seen it. Your son was in big trouble,” Jones said in response to a fan who said Aspinall would knock him out. “The knee was the best thing that could have happened to him. I've learned over the years never to bet on American wrestlers. If your son loses I'll have a good laugh.”

“Watch the fight again. It was short and Tom was losing almost every exchange. Curtis was touching his chin from the moment the fight started,” Jones replied to another person in reference to the fight lasting just 15 seconds.
A proven champion since 2011, Jones is undoubtedly one of the brightest minds in the world of mixed martial arts, having repeatedly defeated opponents spanning generations at light heavyweight.
Jones, who will be promoting globally in a bid to become the “Baddest Man on the Planet” in 2023 (a claim Aspinall currently disputes), believes Blaydes may have the edge over Aspinall in an interim title fight at UFC 304. However, Blaydes is a +190 underdog in the betting, as “The Razor” has been narrowly victorious (1-1) in his last two bouts since beating Aspinall.
“I would say that film studies is one of my biggest strengths. Curtis [wins] “I wouldn't be surprised if I win by knockout or ground-and-pound,” Jones said of his challenger, who has 13 professional wins by knockout or TKO.

“It's not about the injury, it's about my son being treated. The minute his knee popped, he was hit in the face. I'm just saying what I saw. The fans are so impressed with the rookie but I look at what's really going on. I look at the tactics. I'm not going to jump on the train and get excited like everyone else. I'm going to stick around for a while and start breaking records. That's when I'll get my full attention. I've seen this story so many times.”

There is a strong possibility that Jon Jones will retire after his next fight against Stipe Miocic, scheduled for the fall, according to the former heavyweight champion.
After receiving praise from Jon Jones on Thursday, Curtis Blaydes understands why Jones, despite his top ranking, wants to leave boxing and avoid a potentially ruinous title unification fight with him or Tom Aspinall.
“Regardless of how you view Jon Jones now or how you view him after the Stipe fight, that's an image that will stay with him forever, and I don't think he's going to do anything to jeopardize that,” Blaydes said. MMA Junkie In a recent interview.
