Joel Embiid dropped quite a few hints.
The 76ers star appeared on ESPN's “NBA Countdown” show Friday night before the Mavericks avoided elimination with a 122-84 win over the Celtics in Game 4, cutting Boston's series lead to 3-1.
Clippers wing Paul George was also on the ESPN panel, and Embiid appeared to make it clear he wanted to lure him to Philadelphia.
“Hopefully we can find ways to get better this offseason and add some new guys,” Embiid said on the broadcast, before turning to George and smiling.
George, who has played the past five seasons with the Clippers, has a player option for next year.
He can become a free agent if he opts out.
The Clippers were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Mavericks in six games with Kawhi Leonard sidelined for most of the game.
George, a nine-time All-Star, averaged 22.6 points per game during the regular season and 19.5 points in the losing first-round series.
Embiid, who was playing through a knee injury and Bell's palsy, and the 76ers were eliminated in six games by the Knicks in the first round.
He was asked how it felt to see the Celtics come so close to winning the title.
“I can't stand them,” Embiid said. “I hate Boston. Great city, great fans. Obviously, they have great players. But I'm just so hurt.”
