The release of the 2024 NFL schedule is just around the corner, and prime-time games are officially starting to trickle in for Wednesday night. The schedule for Monday Night Football is taking shape, with the New York Jets traveling to Santa Clara, Calif., to take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1.
Monday night's matinee matchup will highlight an interesting relationship between the two franchises. Jets head coach Robert Saleh developed his leadership skills while serving as the 49ers' defensive coordinator and maintains a close friendship with Niners coach Kyle Shanahan.

The game also features the potential return of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who tore his Achilles tendon just four plays into the 2023 season. Rodgers will play behind a rebuilt offensive line that features former Cowboy and All-Pro Tyron Smith and returning Morgan Moses. The Jets also selected Penn State tackle Olu Fashanu with the 11th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to solidify their line.

The 49ers, who lost to the Chiefs in Super Bowl 58, will start the 2024 season with a bloody battle. Kyle Shanahan lost to the Chiefs in Super Bowl 54, his second Super Bowl loss as a head coach.
