For Javier Mendez, Islam Makhachev is more skilled than Khabib Nurmagomedov, but not more dangerous.
Daniel Cormier, who also trained under Mendes at the American Kickboxing Academy, said UFC lightweight champion Makhachev is even more dangerous than former champion Nurmagomedov was in his prime.
Mr. Mendez strongly disagrees with this.
“OK, he's more skilled in multiple areas, yeah,” Mendes told MMA Mania. “More dangerous? In my opinion, there is no one more dangerous in the world than Khabib. Nobody, nobody, I don't care. I have never seen anything more dangerous than Khabib in terms of danger. I mean. , you can't do anything to him. It's very difficult to do anything to him.”
Mendes praised Nurmagomedov's chin. “The Eagle” retired undefeated and never once tasted his own blood in his 29 professional matches. Mendez said only one fighter was able to briefly stun Nurmagomedov.
“Khabib is the most dangerous because, first of all, in my opinion, and I'm biased because I love him to death. His jaw is the hardest I've ever seen. Because he has a chin,” Mendes continued. “He got hit. The only one who shook him just a little bit, just a little bit, was Michael Johnson.
“Michael Johnson hit him with one hell of a shot, but other than that, no one hit him with anything. Justin Gaethje hit him and he didn't do anything. He hit everybody. Steamroll. I think “DC” probably means more skilled, but yeah. But what could be more dangerous than that? I don't think there was ever a man as dangerous as Khabib. ”
