new york [US]New York, June 12 (ANI): Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons and Indians fastball starter Jasprit Bumrah challenged each other to a game of football in New York, bringing together two hugely popular sports — American football and cricket.
The National Football League (NFL), one of the most-watched sports leagues in the world, on Wednesday posted pictures on its official Instagram account of NFL star Mika trying his hand at batting and bowling while Bumrah plays football with the NFL star. The pictures also show Bumrah giving Mika some cricket tips.
“Going for six! Football cricketer @_micahparsons11 and cricket superstar @jaspritb1 met to play each other's sports,” the caption of the NFL post read.
Notably, in a significant move aimed at promoting international sporting cooperation, BCCI Secretary General Jay Shah recently visited the National Football League (NFL) headquarters in New York.
During the visit, Schaer had productive discussions with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and his team, focusing on sharing best practices, exchanging innovative ideas and enhancing fan engagement and experience.
As a highlight of the interaction, Jay Shah presented Goodell with a customised helmet featuring the BCCI logo and an Indian national team jersey. As a symbolic gesture of collaboration, Shah received a trademark NFL ball. The interaction underlines the growing relationship and shared vision between two of the world's most popular sports, cricket and American football.
This historic exchange between BCCI and the NFL paves the way for innovative ideas and opportunities, marking a significant milestone in the inter-cultural sports dialogue between India and the US.
As for India's squad for the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the US, the West Indies are currently in a good position as they have won two out of two matches in the ongoing tournament and are sitting comfortably at the top of the Group A points table with a net run rate of +1.455.
The Men in Blue will take on USA in a group stage match at the Nassau International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday, which will be the 25th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
