Jamahal Hill took some time to reflect on what happened at UFC 300.
Aftermath of UFC 300
The return to the top didn't go as expected for the former UFC light heavyweight champion, who suffered a serious injury last summer when he tore his Achilles tendon. In his first fight back on the hill, he was knocked out by reigning champion Alex Pereira, who was trying to regain the title he had relinquished.
Pereira wasted no time in the UFC 300 headliner, keeping his foot on the gas pedal even after receiving a low blow from Hill. “Poitin” continued to move forward and knocked Hill to the canvas with a follow-up left hand. That was the beginning of the end for the former champion.
Hill talks about the controversy that will end the fight
Several people, including Daniel Cormier, said referee Herb Dean could have avoided getting between the two fighters and separated them after Hill kicked Pereira. Since then, Hill has contributed his two cents to the controversy and suffered losses as the fight unfolded.
“I've seen some of the controversy, I've seen people talking to Herb about suspensions and things like that.” [Dean] After kicking Alex in the hip, it appeared to be a low blow. All I want to say is always protect yourself,” Hill said on his YouTube channel. “Honestly, my feelings about it don't matter.
“A lot of people didn't like the way I picked fights. They didn't like how the fights went. They don't like me personally. So it's irrelevant. I learned that. I take it as a lesson and grow from it and understand that always protect yourself, always be careful and careful, no matter what, even if it's through command or gamesmanship. But always stay focused.”
“No damage was sustained.”
Although the matchup didn't go as Hill expected, Sweet Dreams doesn't consider the knockout loss to Pereira a “big failure.”

“I took no damage. Most of the fall was me falling,” Hill recalled. “I remember everything. I remember looking up and seeing him coming in, trying to block, trying to reach for an underhook. He was able to make some shots and , can throw me off balance a little bit on the other side. But I stayed consistent throughout, for the most part.”
to the next
Jamahal Hill, looking to forget his first loss in three years, has already booked his next UFC fight. The #3 contender will be looking to rebound against rising star and another solid striker Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 303.
Please don't make a mistake with this reservation. Hill still has enough scores to settle with champion Alex Pereira.
“I'll take this on. We're moving forward. Let's go, let's put it on the next guy, Khalil Rountree. He's got to feel it. I'm going to have to feel everything that's going on and what happened last week, and I'll get back to it soon.
“I want Alex. I want that match again,” Hill added. “That's the only fight I want at this point. I want to go back to that fight and finish what we had on display. So we're off to Khalil Rountree. He's a good fight. He's a good fight. He's got the most attention in the division at the moment. Five wins in a row, he's ready, he's hungry. It's just a shame he's got the top dog in the division. Now he's going to show him what it means to be at the top of this division.”
