With his boxing match against Mike Tyson postponed until November, famed boxer Jake Paul will return to the ring to face former UFC welterweight and current bare-knuckle fighter Mike Perry in the headlining of a DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) card on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
“When the Paul vs. Tyson fight was rescheduled, I immediately wanted to fight on Saturday, July 20th. Now as I prepare for my bout with Iron Mike, there is no better opponent for me than Mike Perry,” Paul said in today's release. “He is a proven knockout artist who has shown insane things both in and out of the ring. This would be the best experience I could have before facing Mike Tyson. But with that experience comes risk.”
“Anyone who knows me knows I'm a risk taker. Platinum Perry may try to beat me, but I'm Titanium Jake Paul and I fear no one,” Paul continued. “I'm going to come out victorious and give you all a preview of what I'll bring to the ring to take on Mike Tyson. Tune in on DAZN PPV as I return to Tampa and send Platinum Perry the Platypus back to Bare Knuckle for good.”
Paul has a 9-1 record as a professional boxer with six knockouts, most recently a first-round win over Ryan Borland in Puerto Rico last March, while Perry (0-1) has only been in the ring once, a knockout loss to Birmingham slugger Kenneth McNeil in 2015.
“Jake Paul claims to fear no one, but on Saturday, July 20th, the world is going to find out the truth. He made the worst mistake of his life trying to beat me in front of Iron Mike,” Perry said. “On Saturday, July 20th, I'm going to make it look easy and teach Jake Paul everything I've ever learned about martial arts.”
Unified featherweight champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano (46-2-1, 30 KOs) will also return to the ring to face top 10 fighter Stevie “Sledgehammer” Morgan (14-1-1, 13 KOs) in the “Paul vs. Perry” PPV co-main event. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Wednesday, June 19th) at 12pm ET on Ticketmaster.
