Mike Tyson will come out of retirement at age 58 to face social media star Jake Paul this summer
Jake Paul is said to have “seen everything” about Mike Tyson ahead of this summer's boxing megafight.
Tyson, the former undisputed world heavyweight champion, is coming out of retirement to face social media star Paul this summer in Texas. Tyson hasn't fought professionally since 2005, when he retired on a stool after five rounds against Kevin McBride. Tyson last stepped into the ring in 2020 in an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr., which ended in a draw.
Paul has fought 10 times professionally, winning nine of them, but lost last year to reality TV star Tommy Fury. Paul knocked out his previous two opponents in the first round, but once again switched his attention to a “novelty” fight. There is no word yet on whether the fight between Paul and Tyson will be recognized as a professional bout, but the YouTuber is said to be able to bring something unlike anything Tyson has seen before.
UFC legend Nate Diaz, who lost to Paul on points last year, was asked about it this week and said, “I'm on Mike Tyson's side because Mike Tyson is the GOAT man, so we'll see what happens.'' I think so,” he replied. Saw it all. ”
This week, it was announced that Tyson vs. Paul will be supported as the second clash between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano in the biggest fight in women's boxing history. Taylor defeated her rival in New York in 2022, and the two are set to reunite this summer.
“Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano are two of the best boxers in the world,” Tyson said. “We know both of them will put on a great show and we're excited to have them on this card. These remarkable athletes are sure to add to the event's global appeal and fan base. This unforgettable event is a true gift for fans. Saturday, July 20th can't come soon enough. ”
