Jake Paul, a YouTuber turned professional boxer, is scheduled to compete in a boxing match against Mike Tyson on July 20th at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas, but his dream of competing in mixed martial arts remains uncertain. I haven't given up. art.
Paul talks about “B/S w/ Jake Paul” podcast Earlier this week, he named two former UFC fighters he would like to compete under the PFL banner.
“When I say I want to fight these guys in MMA, I'm very serious,” Paul said. “Whether it's Masvidal or Diaz, there's a $10 million offer for either of them in the PFL. Again, they're literally going to hide behind the facts…Masvidal: 'You can't even box. Come to MMA. What are you going to do, brother? I'm from Miami, Florida! (expletive) Don't disrespect me.
“(Expletive) bird brain, that's what he's hiding. Same with Paddy (Pimblett) and Sean Strickland, they're all hiding behind these crazy things. But still, no one comes up to the table and talks about anything to actually make something happen for a real match, a real spar, whatever it is, so the offer still remains. I would love to see either of these guys compete in MMA.”
Paul faced Diaz in a 185-pound boxing matchup in August. Paul won that fight by unanimous decision. Diaz and Masvidal are currently scheduled to meet in a 175-pound boxing contest on June 1st at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
Diaz is no longer under contract with the UFC. However, Masvidal, who retired from MMA after his loss to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 in April 2023, remains under contract with the promotion, which he spoke about in a recent interview with Morning Combat. talked about in conversation. Since Masvidal is under contract with the UFC, the promotion had to give him permission to face Diaz in a boxing match.
Paul commented on that fact.
“The UFC gave Masvidal a list of 35 people he would be allowed to box,” Paul said. “He's technically still under a UFC contract, so we're releasing Nate's boxing contract, but there were 35 other names and I wasn't a part of that.”
Paul signed with PFL for an MMA fight. Initially, he was expected to compete for the promotion by the end of 2024, but PFL president and founder Don Davis recently stated that Paul's MMA debut is on hold as he is currently focused on boxing. Ta. Paul has 9 wins and 1 loss in his boxing career.
Paul offered Diaz $10 million for an MMA fight in September, but Diaz said he turned the offer down.
