To find out more about Sarr's future, HoopsHyp spoke to the Perth Wildcats general manager. Danny Millsjoined Perth three years ago after spending seven years with the Philadelphia 76ers.
“The strength that Sarr has and his growing size will continue as he moves to the next level,” Mills told HoopsHype. “He's shown throughout the season the ability to make a positive impact both defensively and defensively, especially on the defensive end. At 7'1″, he can cover ground, is a switchable big man and can also protect the rim at an elite level. He has an incredible foundation as he moves up to the NBA level, and I think he'll be a plus on that front from day one. He just turned 19, but it's a credit to him and the unique talent he has that he's made an impact in his first season in a pro league.”
HoopsHype, who has watched Sarr more closely than anyone, asked Mills who he compares Sarr to.
“The name that comes to mind is potentially Evan Mobley, Jaren Jackson Jr.and Nick Claxton“They're guys that can impact the game defensively because of their instincts and athleticism. Offensively, they've evolved. Sarr is very talented offensively and very versatile. His bottom line is really high and if he gets there, his ceiling is really high,” Mills told HoopsHype.
So what are Searle's limitations?
“If everything goes well in Sarr's career, he's 100% an All-Star,” Mills responded. “I have no doubt about it. What can we expect? It's up to him and his development over the next three to five years. For a 19-year-old who is 7-foot-1 with a 7-foot-4 wingspan, who can move up and down the court like a gazelle and switch out to guard anybody on the perimeter, the sky's the limit for him being an elite NBA player.”
