The World Athletics (Athletics) Indoor Championships were held in Glasgow, Scotland from March 1st to March 3rd. Indoor track usually takes a backseat to the outdoor season, but with the Paris Summer Olympics just four months away, the indoor championships have taken on added importance. In some ways, it's much like the Golden Globes predicting Oscar success.
The indoor championships fueled my Olympic aspirations and gave me insight into who the best track and field athletes in the world are and who the U.S. contenders are. At the Glasgow Championships, the United States dominated the medal count. The United States won a total of 20 medals: six gold, nine silver, and five bronze. The Netherlands had the second-highest number of medals, winning five. 650 outstanding track and field athletes from 130 countries participated. No matter what color medal you win, it's no small accomplishment.
Six Americans were crowned world champions and won gold medals. Ryan Crouser won the men's shot put with a new championship record of 22.77 meters. Krauser is a world record holder and Olympic champion, so the win was no surprise. However, when he becomes a candidate for the championship, he has a big goal on his back and the pressure increases. Krauser showed why he is the best in the world.
There was a bit of a surprise in the 60 meter dash as Christian Coleman (06.41) beat Noah Lyles (06.44) to win the gold medal. Grant Holloway cemented his status as the man to beat in Paris by winning the 60m hurdles in a championship record time of 7.29 seconds. Tara Davis Woodhall won the gold medal in the women's long jump with a jump of 7.07 meters.
It's no surprise that Americans win sprints and jumps.in the US for a long time

At the Games, America won two gold medals, three silver medals, and two bronze medals in the 3K, 1,500-meter, and 800-meter races.
Just 364 days after giving birth to her first child, Elle St-Pierre won the women's 3,000 meters in a championship-record time of 8:20.87. In the men's 800m, Bryce Hopper broke away in the final turn and quickly rose from fifth place to win in 1:44.92.
In the men's and women's 1,500 meters, the United States will win four medals: two silver and two bronze. In the men's 1,500 meters, Cole Hocker and Hobbs Kessler proved they are at championship level, with Hocker winning silver in 3:36.69 and Kessler taking bronze in 3:36.72.
In the women's 1500 meters, which was just as good as the men's, Nikki Hiltz took silver in 4:02.32 and Emily McKay took third place in 4:02.69. Yared Naguse won the silver medal in the men's 3000 meters with a time of 7:43.59. From a global perspective,
At the championship, this was the best performance in American middle-distance competition history.
Seven more American athletes will bring home medals from Glasgow: Women's Chase Jackson;

Training corner
At a recent Wednesday night workout, I asked how many people were already doing strength training to supplement their running. A minority said yes, but a majority said no.
I told them that if they wanted their running to be more dynamic, they should start strength training. He added that this not only helps you get faster, but also helps prevent injuries. We also mentioned that strength training becomes more important as you get older.Combination with cardiovascular conditioning
Working on muscle strength will rejuvenate the individual functionally.
Someone asked me how to get started and I suggested bodyweight training. Bodyweight training can be done anywhere with little or no equipment. Use your body weight to provide resistance to gravity and increase strength. Bodyweight training circuits strengthen your cardiovascular system and increase muscle strength and endurance. Using heavy weights to build muscle is a sham, but bodyweight training gets your body moving.
Typical bodyweight exercises include squats, lunges, mountain climbers, planks, leg raises, and push-ups. When you perform bodyweight exercises, your body tries to stabilize itself. This stabilization strengthens muscles and stretches ligaments and tendons. As mentioned earlier, one of the benefits of bodyweight strength training is flexibility. Bodyweight training can be done anywhere. Another benefit is that it's cheap, efficient, and customizable to suit any fitness level.
If you're new to strength training, start conservatively with sets of 10 to 12 repetitions.
Once developed, you can move to multiple sets of 12 to 20 repetitions.
