Former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno has announced that he will be stepping away from MMA for the time being.
Moreno suffered a split decision loss to Brandon Roybal in the main event of UFC Mexico City, snapping his second straight loss. The Mexican lost his title to Alexandre Pantoja in July, and after two consecutive losses, Moreno said he would take some time off from competition.
“I feel like I'm at a point in my life where I'm working and being dedicated, but I'm not seeing results and it's very frustrating,” Brandon Moreno said in Spanish. MMA Junkie). “This is very sad for me, but what makes me who I am is that I always find a way to get back. Technical stuff aside, I think I'm just tired. I'm media , I’m tired of the same questions, the same atmosphere, the constant pressure.”
“I don't think I'll have another second. I think that's all I've built up over the last few years. I've been feeling stressed out mentally, so I'd like to take some time off.”
“I'm not saying I'm going to step away from MMA 100 percent, but I want to take time off to rest, spend time with my family, be a normal person, spend time with my daughters and do new things. ” Brandon Moreno continued. “There are a lot of things I haven't been able to do because I'm 100 percent focused on training. I just want to rest a little bit. This is by no means goodbye. Just wait, be patient, and let my body and mind recover,” he said. Then we’ll come back to do things well.”
Brandon Moreno is taking a break, but he says it's not retirement. Instead, he needs to refresh his mind and body because he knows he will be fighting again.

Brandon Moreno has full confidence in himself that he has all the tools to become UFC champion again, despite losing consecutive fights.
Moreno said the last time he took a break from MMA was after he was cut from the UFC. He eventually turned his career around and became a UFC champion.
“The last time something like that happened, I came back and was world champion,” Moreno said. “I'd like to think I can do the same and I'll be in tears if I go back. I still think I'm a great fighter and I have all the qualities and abilities to be a champion again. …All I can promise you at this point is to keep fighting and moving forward and finding the right path. Moving forward. I'm going to do everything to get myself back together again. I want to do that. I know I can do it, and I'm going to do it. I'm going to be a champion. I just need to rest my body and my mind.”
Moreno is currently 21-8-2 as a professional with two losses. He is 9-5-2 in the UFC and lost back-to-back bouts before regaining his second flyweight title with a TKO of Deiveson Figueiredo.
