Ian Garry is enjoying his time in Sao Paulo after picking up his seventh consecutive win and 14th career win under the UFC banner in February.
'The Future' once again lived up to his moniker, scoring a split decision victory over welterweight classic Jeff Neal at UFC 298. As a result, Gary has slipped into seventh place in the 170-pound rankings — three spots behind his next target, Colby Covington.

Speaking with MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz, Gary revealed that a fight with 'Chaos' is on the agenda for UFC 303 when the promotion returns on June 29th in Las Vegas.
“If Colby wants to fight in his backyard tomorrow, I'm going to fly to Miami and fight in my backyard,” Gary said. “I don't care when it happens. I want him as my opponent. I want him to grow up to be a man and step into the Octagon and face his fears. Lots of bullshit. Let's go face to face with a guy who's been there and see what happens when we get in there. God will be good. He'll give me Colby Covington whenever and wherever I want, And he'd say, 'Ian, have fun.'
Covington last competed in December, falling short to current welterweight champion Leon Edwards at UFC 296. Since then, the three-time title challenger has relentlessly targeted Ian Garry and his wife Leila Machado Garry in a series of NSFW videos and social media. Media Posts.

“I want to fight him because he has a huge following and his name has been respected over the years as one of the best fighters in this division,” Gary said. Ta. “I want to fight him because he's been talking trash about me and my family and I'm going to make sure he regrets everything he said.
“But I also know that even if it was the best Colby Covington we've ever seen, he would never be able to match me.” Even if he's a good player, or ever will be, he'll never be able to beat me. He's too elite. He's too fast. He's too technically gifted. He has no chance. To be honest, I don't think this guy deserves any respect in the world. All the crap he talks…I'll step into that Octagon, and I'll make him retire. That's my goal. My goal when fighting Colby Covington is to make sure he never puts on MMA gloves again.”
Ian Garry decides to force Colby Covington to retire with potential Octagon fight
Ian Garry, who is currently training with Chute Boxe in São Paulo, wants a chance to fight in the Land of the Holy Cross, but Colby Covington won't accept the invitation, especially after “Chaos” turned the entire country against him. He says he just can't see himself responding. During his match against Demian Maia in 2017.
“I don't think Colby Covington wants to go back to Rio after the horrible things he said last time against Brazil vs. Demian.'' [Maia]” Gary said, referring to the time Covington defeated Maia in Brazil and slammed the country in his post-fight speech. “I think he'll go away. I think he'll end up dead.
“That's the truth, I think he's going to die eventually. Colby is so bad that I don't think that's ever going to happen. But I'm going to fight in Brazil one day and I'm going to put on the yellow pants and be in the main event in Brazil.” I'm very happy to be here and I'll be carrying the Irish flag on one shoulder and the Brazilian flag on the other.”

Gary and Covington have been at loggerheads since late last year, and everything appears to be in place for the UFC to take advantage of the heated situation and book a welterweight grudge match later this year. Whether that actually happens remains to be seen. However, given the opportunity, The Future emphasizes that he intends to retire Colby Covington.
“You don't deserve to be here,” Garry said. “You no longer deserve to be at the head of this department. I'm retiring. When I knock you unconscious and leave you face down on the canvas in a pool of your own blood, all of Brazil will smile.” Let's see. Colby, it's over. Fallachau. [Say bye.]”
