Let's say this about Danny Sprinkle's new University of Washington basketball roster: They're a confident bunch.
CBS Sports reported Tuesday that former Utah State forward Great Osobol and recently signed former Butler guard DJ Davis will remove their names from the NBA Draft. This comes on the heels of newly signed Huskies forward Tyler Harris from Portland revealing he will do the same last week.
They were among 195 players entering the draft early, according to the league's announcement on May 1. Wednesday is the deadline to withdraw from the draft.
One of the downsides to Mike Hopkins' Husky coaching regime has been the dearth of recent NBA draft picks from UW and the program's increasingly limited presence on professional basketball rosters.
The Huskies have not had a player selected in the past three NBA drafts, and if recently graduated forward Keion Brooks is ignored in next month's talent acquisition, the Huskies will have four players selected.
The 6-foot-8, 250-pound Osobol, a native of suburban London, was named Mountain West Player of the Year last season after averaging 17.7 points and nine rebounds per game with Utah State and Sprinkle. He recently revealed his plans to play with Sprinkle at UW, which would certainly boost his NBA prospects as he would receive a staggering $2 million in name, likeness and image royalties. He previously spent two seasons with Sprinkle at Montana State, making this the third time they've played together at the school.
The 6-foot-1 playmaker averaged 13.5 points and 2.6 assists at Butler and led the nation in free throw shooting at 95 percent last season. Davis spent the past three seasons at the University of California, Irvine, where he was named first-team All-Big West.
Osobol, Davis and Harris are among 10 players the Huskies have signed or added since Sprinkle took over as head coach in late March, a number that should include an NBA player or two.
