What you need to know
The Timberwolves will play a full fourth quarter on Wednesday, but are expected to wrap things up well before then. They have the luxury of being home for another game, and will host the Detroit Pistons at Target Center starting at 8 p.m. ET. The Timberwolves will emerge with a win, while the Pistons will stumble from a loss.
Last Sunday, the Timberwolves defeated the Warriors 114-110 in an underwhelming performance. Minnesota trailed 43-31 with 4 minutes and 57 seconds left in the second quarter, but still came back and won by four points.
Meanwhile, the Pistons' recent rough patch got a little rougher on Monday after losing seven straight. They were unwillingly punched in the gut 124-99 against the Knicks. Detroit certainly knew they were at a points disadvantage, but that foresight didn't hinder the outcome.
Minnesota has been on a roll lately, winning five of their last six games, a nice improvement on their 49-22 record this season. As for Detroit, the loss drops their record to 12 wins and 60 losses.
Keep an eye out for Arc in Wednesday's contest. The Timberwolves have been dynamite from deep this season, shooting 39% from three per game. However, it's a different story for the Pistons, who are shooting just 35 percent from three this season. Given that the Timberwolves have a significant advantage in this area, the Pistons will need to find a way to close the gap.
The Timberwolves defeated the Pistons 124-117 in their last meeting in January. Will the Timberwolves repeat their success, or will the Pistons have a better game plan this time? We'll soon find out.
