Heise survived, hitting a wrist shot into the net 7 minutes, 42 seconds into the second period, giving the Americans a permanent lead at 3-2. About four minutes later, Coyne Schofield cut the lead to two points.

Finland scored three unanswered goals to beat Switzerland 3-1 on Thursday, advancing to the semifinals for the first time since 2021.
Petra Nieminen and Susanna Tapani each had a goal and an assist, while Neri Laitinen also scored.
Finland have won the last eight meetings against Switzerland dating back to 2012, including a 5-2 win three days ago.
Eighteen-year-old Ivana Way, making her team debut, scored just 82 seconds into the game.
