A mixed martial artist was brutally murdered by a jealous rapper who accused him of harassing his girlfriend.
Horrifying footage shows the moment Alabama native Michael George Ritchie was shot to death in a parking lot after a party in Cebu, Philippines.
Surveillance camera footage showed a blue SUV believed to be driven by rapper Jed Andrew Salera suddenly stop outside the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
Jed is said to have become jealous of Michael talking to his girlfriend and accused him of harassment.
Shocking footage captured the moment Michael was violently kicked in the back by one of Jed's henchmen.
After being attacked from behind, CCTV footage showed Michael hesitantly approaching the car, opening the passenger door and having a brief conversation with the driver.
Michael is then shot twice and is seen falling to the floor.
Paramedics were quickly called to the scene and rushed Michael to Cebu City Medical Center where he was treated for gunshot wounds to the shoulder and thigh.
Medical workers responded quickly, but Michael died on March 19 after spending two nights in intensive care.
Local police were able to arrest Jed four hours after the incident occurred.
Police also seized a loaded handgun from Jed.
A police spokesperson added that Jed was initially charged only with illegal possession of a firearm and attempted murder, but that was later changed.
Police chief Major Romeo Carcoy confirmed that Jed now faces murder charges.
Jed told police that Michael had been harassing a group of women at a party and claimed he shot Michael in an act of “protection and self-defense.”
Major Carcoy quickly dismissed these claims.
He said: “Bouncers calmed down the group and took them outside.
“The foreigner was already in the hotel and another group of young people were talking to him.
“The suspect was not initially at the hotel and had no connection to the hotel. He later arrived at the scene and shot and killed the American.
“He admitted to shooting the American man. There is no evidence that he acted in self-defense or was protecting his friends.”
Major Carcoy added that the man who kicked Michael has been identified and is being tracked down.
It is later revealed that Jed shot and killed Michael before fleeing to his manager's house, crying and having a nervous breakdown.
His manager, Paul Vincent Paras, told police about the incident.
Jed reportedly said, “Brother, help me. I killed someone. Take me to the police station.”
Paul also claimed that the rapper regrets shooting Michael.
Michael's heartbroken girlfriend, Tisai Fuentes, shared her grief on social media.
She said, “I can’t accept what happened to you, baby.
“I told you to be well because there are a lot of people waiting for you to come back.
“Why did you leave me? Your children and family were still waiting for you.”
Michael was a respected athlete and participated in numerous MMA bouts across the United States.
He also helped found the first-ever Jiu-Jitsu league, the Professional Grappling Federation (PGF) in Las Vegas.
PGF founder Brandon MacGlen expressed his condolences on Instagram.
“I was very saddened to hear about the passing of Mike Ritchie today. Mike was one of our PGF World Athlete for Season 1 and was instrumental in getting us all back on track.
“He dedicated his time and effort every week to what he believed in and fought as hard as he could every time he stepped on the mat.
“I would like to express my love and condolences to his family and friends. I can't imagine what they are going through.
“Rest in Peace, Mike. I love you.”
