Medford, Mass. (March 20, 2024) – Junior Forward Tyler Sedlak The Tufts University hockey team finished as one of six finalists for the Joe Concannon Award, presented by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston.
A total of 38 nominees for the Concannon Award were announced in February, including Sedlak and his senior goalie teammate. Peyton Durand. The Joe Concannon Award was established in 2001 and is presented annually to New England's most outstanding American-born college hockey player at the Division II/III level. The company was named after him, who was a longtime sportswriter for the Boston Globe. He had a great passion for the game of college hockey while always being a strong advocate of amateur athletics.
Sedlak was selected as one of six finalists for the award. He will be joined by Trinity College sophomore goalie Devon Bobak, Endicott College senior forward Andrew Klapov, Assumption College junior forward Ronnie Parajiro, Curry College freshman goalie Shane Soderwall, and Plymouth State University junior forward. He was joined by Conor Tate.
In an unprecedented season for Tufts, Sedlak led the team with 15 goals and 31 points in 27 games, finishing second in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). His 16 assists were second on the team and fourth in the league. He also posted a +15 mark during the season and earned first-team all-conference honors, the Jumbos' first since his 2010 season.
In 17 NESCAC games, Sedlak had 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points.head coach Pat NortonThe Jambos earned the No. 3 seed for the regular season with a conference record of 9-7-2. They advanced to the NESCAC Championship Game for the first time in program history and finished the year with a 14-10-3 record. This was the program's most wins in a season since the 2000-01 team.
Bobak, whose team plays and hosts the NCAA Final Four this week, was awarded the 2024 Joe Concannon Award.
Sedlak and Tufts' top line mates harrison bagianos and Max Resnick He plans to return to the Jumbo next season.
