SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Hockey for Heroes Foundation, a nonprofit organization made up of Springfield police officers, expressed solidarity with injured Wilbraham Police Officer Cameron Prosperi on Friday.
Officer Prosperi was shot and injured by an assailant during a domestic disturbance in Wilbraham in January. After nearly a month in the hospital, he continues to recover in anticipation of further medical treatment.
On April 26, members of the Springfield Police Department hockey team, including former Superintendent Cheryl Claprude, gathered with Officer Prosperi at the Wilbraham Police Department to extend their support.
The Hockey for Heroes Foundation donated $2,000 to Mr. Prosperi's medical expenses and gifted him a Hockey for Heroes Foundation shirt, hat and custom jersey. Their actions are aimed at lifting Prosperi's spirits during his recovery journey.
“We wish Cam a speedy recovery and hope this small gesture of thanks will help him in his recovery,” stated the Hockey for Heroes Foundation.
The Hockey for Heroes Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting first responders who are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty.
