If each is selected, the Vaughn brothers would join a select club of twin brothers picked in the same draft, the most successful of which are the Sedin brothers, who will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2022. They were drafted in the first round by the Canucks in 1999, Daniel second and Henrik third.
“Growing up near Vancouver, there were always Canucks games on at home,” Jackson said. “They (the Sedin brothers) did something really special. They were definitely kind of an inspiration and role model in Vancouver.”
Other notable twins selected in the same draft include Ron and Rich Sutter in 1982 (Ron, 4th pick, Philadelphia Flyers; Rich, 10th pick, Pittsburgh Penguins), Henrik Lundqvist and Joel Lundqvist in 2000 (Henrik, 205th pick, New York Rangers; Joel, 68th pick, Dallas Stars), and Kris Russell and Ryan Russell in 2005 (Kris, 67th pick, Columbus Blue Jackets; Ryan, 211th pick, Rangers).
The Vaughn brothers say being twins helped them develop in hockey.
“Having your best friend by your side makes things so much easier,” Jackson says. “I think for a lot of us, going into a new environment, a new dressing room on our own would have been pretty tough. We didn't have to do that because we had each other by our side. Going through it all together was really great for us.”
That's not to say they aren't competitive with each other, however. Corbin is the oldest and has the advantage over Jackson by less than a minute.
“Yeah, that's true,” Corbin said. “I'm the older brother, so I eat first every night.”
