Niagara University, New York —Niagara Hockey Head Coach Jason Lammers The Purple Eagles announced their schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season on Wednesday, which includes two exhibition games, eight non-conference matchups and 24 Atlantic Hockey America games.
The Purple Eagles will open the season on the road on Oct. 6 when they travel to Columbus for an exhibition game against Ohio State.
Niagara will open the regular season in the North Country against ECAC rivals Clarkson and St. Lawrence. The Purple Eagles will face the Golden Knights on Oct. 11 and close out the opening weekend against the Saints on Oct. 12.
The Purple Eagles will then travel to the Capital Region for a two-game non-conference series against RPI.
Atlantic hockey kicks off on Oct. 25 with a home-and-home series against Robert Morris for the Purple Eagles. The Purple Eagles will play at Dwyer Arena on Oct. 26.
After their AHA opener against Robert Morris, the Purple Eagles will play nine straight Atlantic hockey games, including one matchup against RIT and two matches each against Mercyhurst, Army, Holy Cross and AIC.
Following their nine-game AHA series, the Purple Eagles welcome Union to Dwyer Arena for the first time since 2017 for a two-game series against the Garnet Chargers.
The Purple Eagles will close out the 2024 Atlantic hockey calendar with a trip to Colorado to take on the Air Force on Dec. 6 and 7.
After the break, the Purple Eagles will return to Dwyer Arena for a five-game series starting Dec. 29. Niagara will face the University of Guelph in an exhibition before hosting Bentley on Jan. 3 and 4.
Niagara closes out non-conference play the following weekend with a two-game series against Alaska Anchorage, marking the first time in program history that Niagara will face the Seawolves.
The Purple Eagles will close out the regular season with a home-and-home series against Mercyhurst (Jan. 17-18), a road series against RIT (Jan. 24-25), a home series against Sacred Heart (Jan. 31-Feb. 1), a home-and-home series against Robert Morris (Feb. 14-15) and three games against Canisius (Feb. 11, 21-22).
The battle for the Jack Riley Memorial Trophy will take place on the AHA campus over four weekends in March, with all 11 AHA teams competing for a spot in the single-game Atlantic Hockey Championship.
The 2025 Atlantic hockey postseason will open on March 1 with a single first-round game, with the No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8 seeds hosting the No. 11, No. 10 and No. 9 seeds, respectively.
The best-of-three quarterfinal series will be played March 8-10, with the No. 1 seed hosting the lowest seed, the No. 2 seed hosting the second lowest seed, the No. 3 seed hosting the third lowest seed, and the No. 4 seed hosting the fifth highest seed. The best-of-three semifinal series will be played March 14-16, with the winner of the highest quarterfinal hosting the winner of the lowest quarterfinal and the second highest seed hosting the third highest seed.
The AHA postseason will conclude on March 22nd with the two semifinal winners playing one game at the home of the highest-seeded semifinal winner to determine Atlantic Hockey's 2025 postseason champion.
