Two KCII area boys soccer teams met Monday night in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference contest, with the Hillcrest Academy Ravens taking on the Highland Huskies. The Ravens are 7-1 overall and 5-0 in league play after suffering their first loss of the season in a 3-1 loss to Washington on Saturday. Seth Hours scored the only goal of the game with an assist from Mason Bender, and Kyle Neuschwander made a save in the net for nine goals. That year, the Ravens outscored their opponents 33-5 with 166 shots, 95 shots on target, 32 corner kicks, 27 assists, 43 saves, and a save percentage of 90%. Individually, Micah Garber has a team-best nine goals, with Rowan Miller right behind him with eight. We had a team-leading 8 assists, Gerber and Lincoln Miller each had 4, and Neuschwander had 30 saves on goal for an 88% save percentage.
Highland is 4-5 overall this year and 2-3 in the super conference. Their four wins are the program's most in a season since 2015. On Thursday, they lost a shutout to Notre Dame, Burlington, 3-0. This year, the Huskies scored just 26 points and conceded a goal. Jared Diaz leads the team with 10 goals, followed by Logan McFarland with nine. Angel Avendano and Jaydee Macarreno each had three assists. In goal, Aiden Havel made 75 saves for a save percentage of 77%. Hillcrest has won six straight, eight of the last nine games in the series, including a goal from Phoenix Anderson, an assist each from Micah Garber and Mason Helmut, and a shutout from Kyle Neuschwander.
