After the Phoenix Suns' season ended with a first-round sweep against the Minnesota Timberwolves, one Western Conference executive said the Miami Heat will acquire star Kevin Durant, according to Heavy's Sean Deveney. He believes it is possible.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst also pointed out that both sides are in an interesting position with Durant's eligibility for a contract extension.

Windhorst said contract negotiations between Durant and the Suns could determine what happens this summer. No matter what direction the Suns take, it's clear that something needs to change after being overwhelmed by the Timberwolves in the first round.
For the Heat, Durant could be the missing piece to finally win a championship outside of the LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh era. Miami has been at the top the past four years, but has fallen short in each of their recent Finals appearances.
With Butler looking for his first championship and Durant looking to add another to his resume, the two could each help accomplish that in Miami. .
