FaceTime with His Excellency and Ennis' Challenge
Hearn said he spoke with the ambassador on FaceTime after Ennis' win over Avanesyan and was asked when Booth's fight with Crawford would take place, and Hearn said Booth told the ambassador to send him the contract for the Crawford fight.
Matchroom promoter Hearn believes the Crawford-Boot fight could take place in the first quarter of 2025.
It would be a big deal if His Excellency wants the Crawford vs. Ennis fight to happen after the fight between Terence and WBA junior middleweight champion Israil Madrimov on August 3rd.
Crawford vs. Canelo Questions
Hearn says he doesn't think Canelo Alvarez will fight Crawford, but if he does, Terence will be disappointed because that's the fight he wants.
“That's ridiculous. Boots is the best welterweight in the world. Who are you going to show me who's a better welterweight than Boots?” promoter Eddie Hearn told media on Saturday in response to Terence Crawford's comments on social media after Jaron “Boots” Ennis' stoppage win over David Avanesyan.
Crawford told X: “Now he's a world class fighter? What a double standard. Eddie Hearn, you talk a lot.”
Crawford was probably talking about Avanesyan being called a world-class fighter, as Hearn had pushed Avanesyan as a worthy opponent for Boots Ennis' IBF welterweight title defence this week.
“I just got off FaceTime with his Excellency. He asked me if I would like to set up the Crawford fight and Boots said, 'Send me the contract.' So if Terence Crawford beats Madrimov on August 3rd, we'll have a chance to find out if Boots is a world class fighter.”
“If Canelo Alvarez doesn't fight Terence Crawford, which I don't think he will, but if Boots Ennis beats Madrimov in the first quarter of 2025, I think he'll face Terence Crawford,” Hearn said.
