Heads of The Valleys Tan Soo Do is a martial arts school in Brynmawr that teaches traditional Tang Soo Do.
The school has received a grant from the Gwent Association of Voluntary Organizations (GAVO) and will use the money to run small group classes and one-on-one sessions.
“We are delighted to announce that we have received a grant from GAVO to support people of all ages with additional needs within Blaenau Gwent County, free of charge, at no cost to you.
“We believe that martial arts training helps individuals develop confidence, discipline, and respect for themselves and others,” said Tan Su Do, director of The Valleys. Told.
Julie Gardener, an instructor trained in special educational needs, said: “We recognize that martial arts has become important for people with special needs and there are no other facilities nearby. I realized that,” he said.
Angus Rogers and Richie Wood are both instructors at the school and run one-to-one sessions and classes for people with additional needs at the studio.
Mr. Rogers has a brother with autism and has overcome personal challenges such as a brain injury and movement disorders.
“We want to improve the lives of everyone we work with by providing safe, structured exercise habits that can have broader benefits.
“Students will have fun learning, progressing and becoming part of the club and community,” said Tan Hsu Do, director of The Valleys.
