The 2024 NBA Draft has been criticized as a weak draft class, but North Carolina forward Harrison Ingram could help strengthen the draft class in June.
The Tar Heels could move into the second round, but Ingram should be counted on to be an instant impact player. There aren't any notable upsides for the North Carolina State product, but the tool-savvy swingman could be a difference-maker off the bench.
At 6-foot-7, Ingram is capable of passing all sorts of passes, and his size, coupled with his catch-and-shoot ability (39 percent), makes him a threat off the ball, giving him the potential to be a cornerstone of the second unit. Likewise, he is also a versatile weapon on both ends of the floor.
The Tar Hell is a troublesome defender with the size and athleticism to switch 1-5. Ingram has the baseline ability to play right away at that end and the upside that could make him the best defender no matter who he plays. He is the perfect modern defender with the right to draft him.
Another skill that will definitely translate is his rebounding ability. In addition to not being afraid to mix it up low, Ingram understands the timing and angles needed to secure rebounds. I processed the glass with a motor that would never let him out.
Most of the draft process isn't over yet, but if Ingram stays in the second round, he'll be a likely candidate to move up draft boards in a re-draft in record time.
