Football season is rapidly approaching and the first preseason poll of Division II teams has been released.
Harding football, the 2023 NCAA Division II football champions, sits atop the Lindy's Sports D2 preseason Top 25 national rankings, with Central Missouri, Pittsburg State University, Ferris State University and Valdosta State University rounding out the top five.
Lindy's Sports, considered one of the nation's leading football authorities, has introduced the top 25 teams in the country based on expert opinion, as well as a preseason All-America team.
Overall, the top five teams in the country on the magazine's preseason list include defending national champion Harding (No. 1), Central Missouri (No. 2), Pittsburg State (No. 3), Ferris State (No. 4) and Valdosta State (No. 5). All four of the top teams are from the highly competitive Super Region 3.
