Green River senior Stone Lubeck will continue his active career after deciding to play soccer at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, South Dakota. Lubek was a four-year starter for the Timberwolves and a two-time team captain. Lubeck scored 17 career goals at GRHS, playing as a striker/forward, defender, and midfielder. He helped Green River win the Repechage Trophy at the 3A state championship in the 2023 season.
Lubeck received all-conference recognition from the 3A West coaching staff last spring. He helped the Wolves to a 12-3 overall record and 10-2 league record in 2023. He had four goals and two assists last season. He had 12 goals and five assists as a sophomore in the 2022 season.
The senior returned midseason and led the Wolves to an 8-1 record and 6-0 in conference play. Green River leads his 3A West entering this weekend, and his latest WyoPreps Coaches and Media Soccer rankings have him ranked No. 3.
Outside of his high school season, Lubeck played six years with the Green River Spurs and five years with the Rock Springs Avengers. In 2022, the Avengers won the first Equality State Cup in the boys U19 division. They competed in the 2023 Far West Regional Tournament in Boise, Idaho. Lubeck has also played with many other top players around Wyoming on various 307 and ODP teams.
South Dakota School of Mines and Technology competes at the NCAA Division II level. The Hardrockers are members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). Their head coach is Williams Schaefer. Lubeck plans to study civil engineering.
