WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia —College of William and Mary Women's Soccer Head Coach Julie Shackford We have announced the addition of new graduates. Zoe Doughtynotified the Indians' coaching staff on Friday.
Doughty will join the staff as an assistant coach, primarily focusing on coaching W&M's goalkeepers.
“We are excited to have Zoe join our staff,” Shackford said. “As an all-conference student-athlete, Zoe has contributed greatly to the growth of our team and program over the past four-plus years. As a member of tradition and an alumna, she knows what it takes to be successful at our level, and we are so fortunate to have our goalies learn and grow through her training.”
Doughty, who played 46 games as the Tribe's starting goalkeeper during his five-year career, joins a W&M coaching staff that is deeply rooted in the program's tradition. John Daly Turning 35Number I have been involved with the W&M women’s soccer team for one year, joining the staff as a volunteer four years ago after serving as the program’s head coach for 31 seasons.
Doughty, a native of Woodbridge, Virginia, was named the CAA Goalkeeper of the Year in 2021 and was also named to the All-CAA First Team that season. He was named the conference Defensive Player of the Week three times during his career and appeared in 14 games last season, compiling a record of eight wins, two losses and four draws with a 0.87 goals against average and a 73.7% save percentage.
Doughty also converted the winning penalty kick against Northeastern in last year's CAA quarterfinals to lead the school to its first conference semifinal appearance since 2017.
“She's a fantastic, confident young woman who's already doing a great job,” Shackford added. “Her unique perspective will add an extra boost to an already strong coaching staff.”
