Georgia football running back Trevor Etienne has been named one of the top 10 running backs in college football by Greg McElroy.
Historically, if there's a position group on the football field that most college football fans associate with the University of Georgia, it's probably running backs. The program has a long history of developing and recruiting the nation's best talent to their positions, and the Bulldogs have a new top prospect this season in Trevor Etienne.
The former Florida Gator transferred to Georgia State this offseason with ambitions of becoming a star and playing for a winning program. Etienne was impressive in his two seasons at Florida, and now in his third season as an SEC running back, the idea is the former Gator could have a big season in 2024. Greg McElroy would agree, as he has Etienne in his top 10 running back rankings.
“If you look at how he's played the last few years, I think he's going to be great,” McElroy predicted. “And with some of the pieces they have around him, it feels like the sky's the limit now, and if you look at last year, if Georgia has one Achilles heel, it's in the backfield. That's a rarity for the Georgia Bulldogs.''
Etienne ranked eighth on the list behind Oklahoma State's Ollie Gordon and the combination of Ohio State's Quinshon Judkins and Treveyon Henderson.
The Bulldogs continue to send running backs to the NFL, and Etienne could be one of their best prospects in years. He looked good in Georgia's spring game, so many will be keeping an eye on him this season.
