Two Georgia football players have been named to the list of the top 25 returning players in college football.
The Georgia Bulldogs are expected to be one of the top teams in college football this year and some even consider them a favorite to win this year's national championship. One of the reasons for this is that they return many of their core starters, many of whom chose to return to college instead of entering the draft, and they are in good form heading into the 2024 college football season.
The top two players this year are quarterback Carson Beck and safety Malachi Starks. Beck is one of the players who chose to return to college for one more season, while Starks will be entering his third season of college. Both are the top players at their positions, and 247Sports rated them as the two best of the top 25 players returning this year. Starks was ranked 12th on the list, while Beck was 8th. Here is what each player had to say about them:
Malachi Starks:
“Starks is one of the best safety's in college football and a first-team All-American selection. His return to the Georgia defense is a huge boon for a team that has undergone significant personnel changes and he will be a core part of that team after two outstanding years to start his career.”
Carson Beck:
“Beck is the leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy in 2024. He threw 11 straight games over 250 yards last season and is projected to be one of the most consistent and elite passers in college football as a second-year starter.”
Both Beck and Starks were the highest-ranked players at their respective positions on the list, and both are projected to be early first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft and will be key contributors for Georgia in 2024. With a schedule that includes road trips against Ole Miss, Texas and Alabama, the Bulldogs will not only need to rely on their stars on both offense and defense, they'll need them to show up and perform.
Beck is currently enrolled in the Manning Passing Academy alongside some of the biggest quarterbacks in college football, and many are expecting him to have a great season with the Bulldogs, and it looks like he's doing all the things necessary to make that happen.
Georgia will open the 2024 season on August 31st at 12pm ET against the Clemson Tigers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
