To advance to the NCAA Super Regional, the Georgia Bulldogs will have to beat a familiar foe and longtime rival.
The Georgia Bulldogs baseball team is ready to take on in the Peach State tonight when they take on in-state rival Georgia Tech at 6 p.m. The Yellowjackets will need to win both straight games against the Bulldogs to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals, but Georgia only needs one win.
The Bulldogs faced Tech during the regular season, with Georgia dominating the Yellow Jackets, and if Georgia can pull off another win over its in-state rival, they'll return to their home city of Athens next week to face the Louisiana State University Tigers in the Super Regional.
First-year head coach Wes Johnson is looking to win a second consecutive national championship with two different universities, but he'll also get a chance to face his former team again after the Tigers eliminated the Bulldogs in the SEC Tournament.
But first, the Diamond Dogs must get past Georgia Tech, who will be looking to avenge their sound loss to the Bulldogs back in March. If Georgia can keep up its offensive form like it has in the past two meetings, the Diamond Dogs should easily beat the Jackets and advance to their first Super Regional in 15 seasons.
