Florida State senior punter Alex Mastromanno has been named to the Preseason All-American First Team by the Walter Camp Foundation, it was announced Monday.
Mastromanno was named a second-team All-American and a Ray Guy Award finalist last season and became the first punter of the year finalist in program history. His punting average of 45.5 yards was fourth on the program's all-season list, second in the ACC and 15th nationally in 2023. He led FSU to third in the nation with a punting average of 43.28 yards and dropped 26 punts inside the 20-yard line with just three for touchbacks.

A native of Melbourne, Australia, Mastromanno had 37 of his 66 punts caught for fair catches, including a career-high seven in the ACC Championship Game win over No. 14 Louisville. In the wins over Clemson and Miami, Mastromanno kicked a career-high four 50-yard punts. In the Hurricanes win, a 52-yard punt was downed at the 2-yard line, a 55-yard punt was caught for fair catch at Miami's 18-yard line, a 51-yard punt was out of bounds at Miami's 5-yard line, and another 51-yard punt was downed at Miami's 16-yard line. His other three punts that day were for 44, 44, and 46 yards, respectively. His four punts against Clemson were for 59, 57, 52, and 51 yards, with the final punt downed at the 3-yard line.
Last season, Mastromanno recorded three punts of 59 yards, his longest of the season, coming against Clemson, Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh. His longest was 51 yards in the season opener against No. 5 Louisiana State, and by the end of the season he had at least one punting attempt of 50 yards in 10 of 14 games.
Mastromanno enters his final season with a career punting average of 43.64 yards, second in Florida State history.
