The toughest part about Florida State's 2024 season will be essentially replacing the 10 former Seminoles players selected in April's NFL Draft. At the same time, coach Mike Norvell has established depth and, by combining it with quality transfers, has put his team in a position to retool rather than rebuild.
Redshirt senior linebacker DJ Lundy is expected to play a key role on and off the field in his final year in Tallahassee. He opted to return to the Seminoles after entering the transfer portal over the winter. Since that debacle, Lundy has fully embraced the messaging from Florida State coaches, and it was evident in his performance in spring practice.
“I'm not gonna lie, my body feels better than it's ever been. I'm not tired anymore,” Randy said earlier this year. “It feels great to just be free to play and have fun. Right now I'm just having fun, communicating and hanging out with my brothers.”
Ahead of his final game in the garnet and gold, Randy is understandably garnering attention in the NFL, with the veteran linebacker recently being profiled as an underrated draft prospect by CBS Sports' Blake Brockermeyer.

“Randy is an agile back with great instincts in the box. He can find open space and close in on a rush to make a play. His pass-rush ability makes him a bad matchup for most backs in blitz pickups.”
Randy spent most of the past two seasons as the No. 1 linebacker off the bench behind Cullen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune. In 2023, he appeared in 13 games, starting four of them, and recorded 54 total tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, four pass deflections and his first collegiate career interception. His performance earned him honorable mention All-Mention by the ACC.
The Georgia native was a regular in the rotation during his four years with the Seminoles, appearing in 45 games, starting 17 of them, while recording 183 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, eight pass deflections, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one interception. He served as FSU's starting fullback the past two seasons, rushing four times for three yards and three touchdowns and catching one pass for one yard and one touchdown.
Randy was a member of the first freshman class coached by Mike Norvell at Florida State in 2020.
